Conversio Virium
New York City’s Student BDSM Education Group
Present At Conversio Virium
Conversio Virium hosts presentations on all manner of BDSM-related topics. For examples of past topics, check out our meeting archives. If you’d like to be a presenter and share some of your knowledge and experiences with the community, the best way to let us know is by emailing us at conversio@columbia.edu. In your email, please be sure to tell us
- a little bit about yourself:
- Where are you from?
- What’s your favorite thing about kink?
- your experiences in the BDSM community:
- How long have you been involved?
- Have you presented on subjects involving BDSM anywhere else? If so, on what subjects?
- what topics you can present on (please be as specific as you can).
- how you envision your presentation:
- Is your presentation a discussion, a panel, a lecture, a demonstration, a show-and-tell, a workshop, a combination of all of these or something entirely different?
- Will you need special tools such as a projector, special refreshments, anything at all…?
- which Mondays you’ll be available (CV meetings are always scheduled for Monday nights),
- whether or not you will permit Conversio Virium to republish any handouts or other material you provide as part of your presentation on our web site, and if so under what conditions (if any),
- and anything else you feel is relevant.
Unfortunately, we may not be able to accommodate all requests but we’re always happy to hear from potential presenters!
CV Presentation Guidelines for Presenters
When preparing your presentation for Conversio Virium, please keep the following guidelines in mind. These tips are designed to help you perform a great presentation.
- Be certain to familiarize yourself with the CV meeting rules prior to your presentation.
- CV meetings run for a total of approximately two hours, and of that time, approximately one and a half hours are intended to be dedicated for your presentation. If you feel that you need more time, you should let us know well in advance.
- If your presentation needs a demo bottom, you should make your own arrangements to ensure that someone will be available to act in that role. While you are welcome to solicit volunteers from the attendees during your presentation itself, you are reminded that such spur-of-the-moment volunteers may have different limits and/or expectations than you do.
