Apologizes to all for the delay of posts. Join us again at the Malibu diner as we bid farewell to what I hope has been an amazing summer for everyone, and for the last installment of Summer CV this year! After this, we will return to our regularly scheduled meetings, the first of which will be held on September 15th.

It’s finally August, which means one more month until the school year begins (along with our regularly scheduled meetings). This week, Summer CV will be at the Malibu Diner as usual. However, please remember that for the next week only (August 11), we will be at the Moonstruck Diner. Anyone can come to Summer CV, so please don’t hesitate to do so!
The Malibu Diner is at 163 W 23rd St, between 6th and 7th Ave.

If you’re anything like me, Monday is the best weekday ever ;)
Since it’s not the second week of the month, Summer CV will be held at Malibu Diner once again. Come!
Summer CV is still at Malibu Diner

Apologizes for the confusion regarding the location of our munch last week. Apparently, a photography group meets on the second Monday of each month, and they have been meeting there for a while. So, we relocated to the Moonstruck diner on 9th Ave., two blocks directly west of Malibu diner. It’ll likely be our alternate diner in case we need to relocate again for whatever reason (and we’ll probably go there again on August 11).
I love meeting new people, and it seems like I have every time! If you haven’t come yet, we encourage you to release your inhibitions!

Come march in the Heritage of Pride Parade (formerly known as the Gay Pride Parade) this Sunday, June 29th, starting at noon! The march is from 5th Ave. & 52nd St. to Christopher & Greenwich St.
From the Heritage of Pride website:
The March began as an annual civil rights demonstration beginning the year after the Stonewall Riots in 1970. Over the years its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to the illness, violence and neglect. It has also evolved to include being a celebration of our lives and our community.

Folsom Street East XII

Folsom Street East is coming this Sunday! From the Folsom Street East website:
Folsom Street East, New York’s premiere s/m-leather-fetish themed street festival, will hit the streets of Manhattan from 2 to 8pm on June 22. Produced by Gay Male S/M Activists (GMSMA), Folsom Street East is the largest outdoor event of its kind on the East Coast, attracting nearly 10,000 visitors. Folsom Street East takes place in New York City on West 28th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues.
Performances already scheduled this year will feature indie rocker Bob Mould, Sylvia Tosun, Fredrick Ford, Trai La Trash, and The Imperial Court. Porn producer extraordinaire Chi Chi LaRue will serve as emcee.
The street will once again be lined with some 50 community groups and vendors that appeal to the LGBT and the kink communities. A one-stop shop for leather gear, porn, and toys. And no throw pillow, magic mops, or tube socks – promise!
And given that this is all part of leather pride weekend, check out the other events section and see what other filthy fun is in store.
Suggested donation is $10.
Some background information about Folsom Street East from their website:
GMSMA held the first Folsom Street East in 1997. Named after the famous Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, the block party was an instant success, bringing our S/M-Leather-Fetish brothers and sisters together for a great celebration, while raising money to support worthy causes. Over the past 11 years, the success of FSE has enabled GMSMA to donate more than $250,000 to support organizations such as The LGBT Community Center, the NYC Gay & Lesbian Anti-Violence Project (AVP), and the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF).

Hi, everybody!
The Leather Pride Night Auction is coming this Saturday! From the LPN website:
The 25th annual Leather Pride Night Auction will take place on Saturday, June 21st, 2008. This year the festivities will be at Splash!, 50 W. 17th Street. SPLASH!’s doors will open for LPN at 6:00 PM, and the auction will run from 7 PM until 10:00 PM. Liquor, beer, wine and soft drinks will be provided at a cash bar. Light finger food will be served. A sign language interpreter will be present throughout the evening. This year, as every year, there will be a team of bootblacks to keep your boots and shoes looking sharp. All tips go toward the event’s total for the beneficiaries.
MCs Susan Wright, writer and activist, and Leatherman of Color 2007 “Doc” Hoskins will keep the evening moving, directing attendees to the varying activities and announcing the opening and closing of the auction times.
Jo Arnone, LPN’s veteran auctioneer, will preside over almost a hundred items being auctioned, including leather and latex fetish clothing, unique toys and equipment, art objects, Broadway theater tickets, and much more.
Leather Pride Night is sponsored by ten NYC S/m-leather- fetish organizations: Gay Male S/M Activists, Imperial Court of NY, Iron Guard BC, Lesbian Sex Mafia, MAsT Metro NY, MetroBears NY, New York boys of Leather (NYboL), Pariah MC, The Eulenspiegel Society and ONYX NY and many committed individuals.
Over the years, Leather Pride Night has donated over $300,000 for local and national charities. This year, Leather Pride Night will donate the 2008 Auction proceeds to: The National Council for Sexual Freedom, Scarleteen, Sylvia’s Place, Youth Enrichment Services, Leather Archives & Museum and as is customary, an annual donation to Heritage of Pride, the producer of New York’s annual Pride Parade. Tickets for Leather Pride Night are $15 in advance, and $20 at the door. Paypal payment is available at the LPN website. Tickets can also be obtained at any of the sponsoring organizations or the beneficiary organizations, as well as the following supporting commercial venues: The Baroness, David Samuel Menkes Custom Leatherwear, Purple Passion / DV8, Paddles, The Leather Man, Passional, Rubio Leather, Nasty Pig, Le Chateau Exotique and Come Again.
