For all us youngun’s who missed pre-Giuliani New York, Conversio Virium is happy to present a talking tour of our city that never sleeps, with Leonard S. Waller. I first saw Lenny featured in the award-winning documentary Pornology NYC. He’s an activist, founding father of Bears International as well as the NY Strap & Paddle Association, and an oral historian who managed such notorious hangouts as the Manhole (1979–1985, 1993–2002), the Hellfire Club (1980–1985, 1993–2002), and the Vault (1987–1993), just to name a few.
What happened to these seedy, sexy bars? These meccas of kink culture?

- Gay Male S/M Activists (GMSMA) - GMSMA is the world’s largest organization of men seriously interested in safe, sane, and consensual S/M activities.
- Lesbian Sex Mafia (LSM) - Founded in 1981, the Lesbian Sex Mafia is one of the oldest women’s BDSM support and education groups in the country and is located in New York City, with a membership primarily in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
- Masters And slaves Together (MAsT) - An education, support and resource group for individuals interested in the Master/slave lifestyle. MAsT provides an opportunity and forum for like-minded individuals to come together to share ideas, knowledge, and discuss relevant issues.

- Polyamorous NYC - Poly NYC is an education and outreach organization supporting polyamorous living in the New York City area.
- The Eulenspiegel Society (TES) - The largest and oldest New York City area public BDSM education organization. There is also a subgroup of adults under 35 called TES-TiNG.
- The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Center - The LGBT center is New York’s premier resource for LGBTQ individuals, and generously provides spaces for classes and workshops held by other organizations in New York City.
